Please inform the Nurse's Office if your child has contracted a communicable disease - especially strep, chicken pox, measles or mumps, or lice - so we can monitor the situation. Additionally, please notify the Nurse’s Office if there is a significant injury or change in health status pertaining to your child.
Students who are ill should be kept at home until they are well. If a student has a fever, diarrhea, or is vomiting, they should stay at home until they are symptom free for 24 hours. Students who are receiving antibiotic treatment should not return to school until they have been on the antibiotic for 24 hours.
Every student in grades K to 8 must have a Physical Examination Form that is completed ANNUALLY (every 365 days) and is signed by a physician in order to participate in the gym program and the Athletic Association Programs. Students is grades 6-8 must also complete a Health History Update, Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Death form.
In order to start school in September, every student’s immunizations must be up to date and in the Main Office before September 1st. This includes all Pre-K and TK students as this is required by the State of New Jersey.
Please note those students age 11 and entering 6th grade must have a meningococcal and Tdap booster before beginning school in September.
Only medication that is ordered by a physician and brought to school in the original container with the Medication Request Form signed by both the doctor and parent will be administered during school hours. This includes both prescription and non-prescription (over-the-counter) medications, in compliance with New Jersey Regulation NJSA 18A:40-1 Oral Medication in Schools.
If your child has asthma that may require an inhaler or nebulizer treatment in school, the Asthma Treatment Plan must also be completed and signed by the physician and parent and the appropriate medication provided to the school nurse.
